I watch the Tour de France every year (even though this doping stuff pisses me off and tests my patience) and this year I’ll also be participating in the Tour de FLEECE at the same time! This is a preview of what I’ll be spinning:
Grey Wool for a woven sleeveless jacket.
Really, really fine merino with a really, really short staple. This one is tricky and sort of fun. I only have 8g of this fibre so it is just a sample but I may also try out some other merino bits and bobs I have saved from my felt making days. Merino is just a diversion though. They grey wool is the main game 😀
Oh my goodness, your weaving and your spinning work is magnificent!
Thank you so much Carolyn… I LOVE your blog so I’m super chuffed that you have dropped by here – AND made such a lovely comment 😀
Hey Claire,
Beautiful beautiful yarn. I love the idea of Tour de Fleece. I can’t get out of my BFL rut tho’. I love to spin it so much and it is sooo relaxing – when I try to branch out to those more challenging fibers, all I feel is, “well, this is no fun!” and return to bfl. Your merino looks so beautiful – maybe it will inspire to to embrace the challenge.
Do what you love I reckon! 😀 I’ve never tried BFL though I am currently spinning some long stapled Border Leicester in the grease – it’s ten time more fun than spinning beautiful merino tops hehe
