Lovely. My favourite is also the bird. I've been meaning to comment on the dredger quilt project, as I find work like this (beautiful things inspired by ugly things) fascinating. I'm collecting materials right now for a quilt based on aerial maps of some really gross industrial areas near where I live.

Hi Jodi, I've got plently of 'ugliness' around me but the longer you live with it and look at it the less ugly they seem to become :-) (I had an english teacher like that once!) The aerial map idea is an interesting one. I have been thinking about using some old highway aerial photos from my workplace as a springboard for some work too... but the area they were taken of is generally quite beautiful. Cheers Claire

Hi Claire, I go away for a week and take a few days to get back to your website and there is always an amazing array of things. I wish I could dedicate so much passion to my blog and my hobbies. You're pages are always so readable. I think your art would look great in a gallery - especially something like the dredger which really says something about who you are with a blend of engineering, art and craft :) Carol

Oh, that on fabric, and then heavily quilted would be awesome. Very nice Claire Bear. I think I am going to do some painting this weekend. Hmm you have inspired me.. xxx

Hi Carol :-) Thanks for your comments... actually most times I don't feel anywhere near as productive as I could be, I want to make more and do more all the time. But I'm also lazy and waste incredible amounts of time, however I try to give myself some leeway on it, since I also work all day to earn a crust. Cheers Claire

Hi Claudia, I really like the image of the bird which occured sort of by accident, but actually looks a lot like the blackbirds which sit in a neighbours tree... So I may revisit it at some stage. Cheers Claire

Oh I just love bird. I'm so amazed by really effective use of negative space... and this is perfect!

Learning to Love Legumes

I’m not a fan of chickpeas, lentils split peas and their ilk. I’ll admit that right up front. I’d like to love them and have jars of dried legumes cluttering up my kitchen;…

Musing

Time to capture some random thoughts! 1) today I used some freshly harvested kale from the garden, the plant doesn’t look fabulous with it’s moth holes and general neglect. But…
