Two Posts in One Day

In the spirit of me returning to my sewing room I present a finished quilt, I was so keen to have this finished, I sewed the binding by machine instead of by hand. Hand would have given me a nicer result from the back, but it makes little difference to the front, so I compromised in the interests of finishing it.

I admit that I don’t really like it, but it will stay up until I make a replacement.

That pear quilt is stunning!! What is not to like? I love the pear quilting you did within the pear! Fantastic!

Hi Bertha, I'm still not pleased with the background, I'm thinking I could cut the background away to make a pear shaped quilt or attack it with paint again to make the background less patchy perhaps. I'm gonna live with it for a while and see. I think the quilting withing the pear is the best thing about the quilt :-) Cheers Claire

The "Pear" is awesome. Don't you dare change a thing until you try this.... I've learned to "bury" any new creations that I'm unhappy with. I leave them out of sight for at least a couple of weeks...it's amazing how impressed you'll be when you again unearth it. You are still seeing and feeling the "work" involved. Your creations are truly inspiring.

I like the quilt...repeating the motif within the pear really sets it off. I've been going through the pages of my sketches to see if I'm drawn to any particular shape, pattern,...but so far, if I had to pick, it would be geometric shapes, particular squares and rectangles.

You know you guys have pretty much named this quilt LOL. I was calling it 'the pear quilt' for obvious reasons.... and now it has morphed into just 'The Pear'. I've noticed pears everywhere the last couple of weeks, Looby Lu has been making pear dolls (are they meant to be pin cushions???) and I saw a series of pear quilts on Miniature Textiles this week. When it rains it pears ...'groan' LOL. Cheers Claire
