I'm Rich!!

Chris found a Sand Dollar yesterday.

I had never seen one before despite spending the majority of my life on the coast. Perhaps these critters don't like the cold Tasmanian waters.

A few weeks ago Chris went to Brisbane for work and I decided to join him for part of the time. I visited the new Gallery of Modern Art (but the majority of exhibition space was closed Hmmm) and the Queensland Art Gallery where I saw an exhibition of a watercolour landscapes by Kenneth McQueen (who I had never heard of before). I especially loved his cloud paintings.

I bought some books too, the most relevant here being India Flint's book Eco Colour. A lovely book to flick through and then go back and read (I bought it and enjoyed it in spite of the ho hum review in Vogue Living). I was even inspired to dye up some wool with eucalyptus leaves - I'll reserve that for a seperate post I think.

I made a new bag on a whim before I went and it was perfect for the trip. It was quick too (just what I like!)

The last week I've been terribly sick with the flu and my spirits have been very low, with lack of sleep and tears and various trials and tribulations at work. But I'm starting to feel better now and things are looking brighter.

Glad to hear that your still

Glad to hear that your still alive even if you have had the flu. What the hell is a sand dollar? I never heard of this before! I got some news - call me when you get a chance xxx m

hope you are feeling better.

hope you are feeling better. it has just occurred to me that the pattern on that sand dollar would make a lovely quilting motif....

thank you for buying my book,

thank you for buying my book, in despite of the ho hum review! happy dyeing...best wishes, india

oh Claire!! you make me feel

oh Claire!! you make me feel even richer!!! you have no idea how happy you made me yesterday and still now! oh what a sweet sweet surprise. i mean the spoons are already precious and then to receive even more...an extension of you, of your very own original works...! gosh, you are just super!! i love it all, thank you! i can't wait for some sunlight so i could take some pictures before unwrapping/untying it all. also want to savor the way you packaged everything together a bit longer (so perfect with the sandwich bag). hee. :D. but i also can't wait to unwrap it too so i can marvel at each piece more fully and closely. love your bag, btw. i wish i made it. looks so soft and fitting to carry around. excited to see what you'll be making with the dye work you've been doing. such beautiful colors you got there! okay, gonna and admire my quilted gift some more now...
