December 2008ChippingAnother Christmas has passed, next year we will be celebrating it with an 8 month old baby boy, how strange! I did take a few hours to paint a picture for Chris on Christmas Eve (above). But, it just didn't feel right, it really isn't his thing. So I had a quick dash to the newsagent an bought him some books instead. He was pleased with the big thick history book about the Kakoda Track and also the sci fi book... less interested in the 'Baby Tips' book though LOL. Anyway, I ended up popping the painting in a matted frame and it acutally looks pretty good. So its a present for me :-p I've also worked a bit more on the following:
Apple, Rhubarb and Raspberry PieWe're gonna have spag bog and this juicy pie for dinner tonight. I can't wait!! The weather has turned very rainy, there's a tropical low south of here which is unlikely to develop into a cyclone, but it sure is wet! It has a sort of wintery feel here as long as you stay inside with the air conditioning. Last night Reuben (our dog) ate one of my embroidery needles. I called the vet and looked it up on the net and apparently it isn't too much to be concerned about unless there is a long thread attached, there was a thread, but it 'passed' this morning without the needle. He seems to be doing ok, but we'll watch him very closely this week! It's all totally my fault as I was using the ottoman as a pin cushion and that's where he normally sits. So today I decided to make a needlecase for a neater and safer storage option! I made some felt with merino and silk to use as the cover. And a matching little button :-)
Bags of Fun
My idea is to embroider a band of fabric and incorporate it into a tote bag like the ones I've made over the last couple of days. The green bag contains my knitting.... and I found the lost ball of yarn YAY! So once I've finished the embroidery above, I'll put get back into it. The orange bag contains my small stash of baby things. I have an idea of making a number of these bags to hang in the baby's room to hold bits and pieces. I think it might be an interesting way to get some colour into the nursery, as well as being practical storage. That's if I have enough time, we may be moving to a different mining town in January.
